Why ordering marijuana from NYC bike messengers is such a crapshoot

Manhattan is infamous for courier-delivered cannabis (“High Maintenance,” anyone?) but whether the bike-delivered strain lives up to its billing could be another question, says Roger Volodarsky, founder of New York City-based Puffco.

The cannabis industry in New York City remains rooted in the black market, so knowing exactly what one is ordering from a bike messenger becomes a difficult task, says Volodarsky, whose company sells load-your-own portable vape pens.

“Whatever a New York bike messenger is telling you is probably pure marketing,” he says.

Volodarsky speaks with Cannabist editor-in-chief Ricardo Baca on The Cannabist Show about cannabis-by-courier and some sourcing strategies.
