Stand-up comedian Sam Tallent says being stoned is a necessity when it comes to performing — that comedy and cannabis are a natural combination. “Well, for me it is,” he says. “I don’t like to do stand-up un-stoned.” When was the last time he did a show sober? He says, “2006, probably.”

Of course, Tallent admits that he’s always stoned. “Ask me how many quinceañeras I’ve been to un-stoned, it would still be the same amount.”
He laments the mental state of audiences these days, though, saying that he imagines that most people at his shows anymore seem to be on Xanax than they are to be on weed.”
