The saga of the 2016 Denver 420 Rally will go down in the massive smoke-out’s history as one of its strangest ever.
As forecasts of snow loomed, event organizers promised the April 16 show would go on with headliners Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne. When the snow did in fact slam central Denver, organizers postponed the rally after the event was scheduled to start. First they said there would be no refunds. Then they changed their mind as they kicked around various rescheduling options that included throwing the Rally/concert at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, home to the Denver Broncos.

After a mad-cap weekend that was home to plenty of other like-minded events, 4/20 actual was celebrated at Civic Center with a low-key gathering some described as “old-school.”
But The Cannabist has the exclusive on the rescheduled date and venue for the 2016 Denver 420 Rally, and it looks like everyone’s on board — and hoping for clearer weather this time.
The rescheduled Denver 420 Rally will take over Civic Center on Saturday May 21, event organizers told The Cannabist. Both Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne will perform at the rescheduled event, and all tickets for the April 16 rally will be honored at the May 21 event.

“This gives us time to plan a bigger and better event,” MassRoots CEO Isaac Dietrich told The Cannabist. “It was a tremendous task to find a date that worked with both artists. The city was extremely helpful in helping us secure Civic Center for the new date.”
MassRoots, a cannabis-centric social media network, is a sponsor of the Denver 420 Rally.
Dietrich said Denver government officials were essential in allowing the event to stay at Civic Center, which was important to the rally’s organizers.
“There aren’t many 420 fests that take place literally on the steps of the state capitol,” he said.
General admission to Civic Center will be free during the event, but tickets are being sold for the “limited premiere viewing access” in front of the stage hosting Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne and other performances.
“We would not have rescheduled this event if it wasn’t absolutely necessary,” 420 Rally producer Santino Walter said in a media release.
