Colorado-to-Maryland weekly pot shipments by mail investigated

SMITHSBURG, Md. — A western Maryland man is charged with selling marijuana he allegedly obtained in weekly mail shipments from Colorado.

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Myers couldn’t be reached Thursday for comment on the charges filed Monday. His Smithsburg home has no telephone listing. The public defender who represented him at a bond review declined to comment on the case.

Police say Myers told them he sold marijuana that he bought from a source in Colorado at a rate of two to three pounds a week from September through last week.

Although retail sales of up to one ounce of marijuana for personal use are legal in Colorado, it’s illegal to ship it out of state.

Myers allegedly sent payments to a Denver address. Denver police said they’re looking into the matter.
