It’s 4:20 p.m. on February 27, 2014, and here are a few of the things we’re talking about at Cannabist HQ.
THE BEDAZZLED POT-LEAF LEOTARD? SHE’S JUST BEING MILEY. So pop star Miley Cyrus has made her love of weed very explicit by now. Between the back-up dancers dressed as joints and the 24 karat gold rolling papers she sells at her merch tables, she might just be marijuana’s biggest advocate in pop music. Our style guru talked with New York design duo The Blondes about their work on Cyrus’ style – and what her outlandish, bedazzled pot-leaf leotard says about the singer’s career. See photos of Cyrus and read our interview.
VAIL, FOREST SERVICE DESTROY BRECK SMOKE SHACK. Breckenridge skiers and snowboarders who used to be regulars at Leo’s are pouring some of their 40s on the ground for a fallen friend this week. Leo’s, a popular smoke shack hidden in Breck’s treeline, was reduced to a pile of lumber recently by the U.S. Forest Service and Vail Resorts, which owns Breck. Did the recent “Inside Edition” report on stoned snowboarding lead to the shack’s demolition? Find out here.
BIG MILESTONE FOR HEMP. When you’re a native born on April 20th — like former dispensary owner Veronica Carpio — a cannabis career seems practically predestined. To boot, Carpio isn’t afraid to talk tacos: “Two tablespoons of hemp seed in my tacos for dinner one evening ensures my child and I get some proper nutrients.” See why Carpio, a hemp-industry professional, is looking forward to March 1.
FINDING WEED, BOTH RECREATIONAL AND MEDICAL. Not all marijuana maps are created equally. And with Colorado’s pot industry evolving at such a quick rate, it’s hard map-makers to keep up. We at The Cannabist are proud of our marijuana map, which differentiates from medical dispensaries and recreational shops. So if you’re looking for marijuana, give it a spin. And if you’re selling marijuana, make sure you’re listed on our handy map. Map it up.
