Denver comic Josh Blue says he was robbed, assaulted in St. Paul bar

Comedian Josh Blue was assaulted Monday night at a St. Paul bar, according to a post on his Facebook page.

The St. Paul native, in town for a Sunday gig at the Joke Joint Comedy Club, was at Hot Rods Bar & Grill on University Avenue in St. Paul the following night when a man attacked him in the bathroom and stole his wallet, according to a police report. The wallet contained $700, his credit cards and driver’s license.

“I spent the night in the ER with a mild concussion,” he wrote in his Facebook post. “Although the person was able to steal my wallet and knock my favorite sunglasses in the toilet he was unable to knock the comedy from my head.”

Blue described his assailant to police as a black man with long dreadlocks wearing a light-colored shirt, black jeans and a black baseball cap. The case is under investigation.

The 38-year-old Como Park (St. Paul) Senior High School graduate won TV’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2006 and now tours the globe doing about 250 shows a year, he recently told the Pioneer Press.

Blue now lives in Denver (also home to The Cannabist’s HQ). Check out a day in his life:
