The Daily Sentinel reports that 27-year-old Jessy Wayne McElroy was convicted of careless driving resulting in death and driving while ability impaired for the July 2015 crash that killed 60-year-old motorcyclist Gary Willis.
McElroy has been ordered to serve two years of probation after his jail sentence.
He apologized to Willis’ family before his sentence was announced, saying that he is “ready to take full responsibility for my bad choices.”
Willis’ widow, Kim Willis, cried when she addressed Mesa County District Judge Valeria Robison and said she hoped the last thing McElroy saw before sleeping was the image of her dead husband.
