Colorado Springs police find illegal pot grow in rental home, arrest 2

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police say they have arrested two men who were growing marijuana illegally in a home.

The Gazette reports that police were searching for a man wanted on a federal warrant when they say they found a grow operation yielding 56 pounds of packaged marijuana in a home basement.

Sgt. Roger Vargason says the renter had bypassed electric charges by tapping the wire before it reached the meter. He says the person stole between $6,000 and $8,000 in electricity during a six-month period.

Police found the man with a federal warrant and sent him back to Florida. They also arrested the renter, who had a warrant for illegal marijuana distribution in Jefferson County.
