Father who teamed with son to rob Colorado pot shop gets 15 years

DURANGO — A Colorado man will spend 15 years in prison for helping his son rob a pot shop.

The Durango Herald reports that 44-year-old Joe Riley Griffith pleaded guilty in July to his role in the Jan. 31 crime. Police say 19-year-old Logan Griffith used a semi-automatic weapon to hold up Durango’s Rocky Mountain High dispensary and made off with $2,700 and some marijuana.

Authorities say they originally thought the older Griffith was a victim because he was tied up along with the dispensary employees.

Family members asked for leniency at Joe Griffth’s Monday sentencing. His older sister says Griffth has a history of drug use and struggled to measure up to his siblings.

Logan Griffith pleaded guilty three months ago and was given six years in the Colorado Youthful Offender Section.
