Authorities seize 2,700 pot plants in western Colorado’s Delta County

MONTROSE — Authorities seized 2,700 pot plants that they say were part of an illegal grow operation in western Colorado between Grand Junction and Montrose.

The Montrose Press reports Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee said tips from neighbors led authorities to the property and that it became pretty obvious what was growing there after a National Guard helicopter provided an aerial view.

A search warrant was served and McKee says more than 3,000 pot plants were found. Investigators seized all but the 300 plants allowed under the state’s medical marijuana law.

McKee said the agencies worried the marijuana was being processed with the intent to distribute, which is banned in Delta County.

Two people were investigated, but charges or citations have yet to be issued.
