Only in Los Angeles can you buy different marijuana strains inspired by director Kevin Smith’s latest film.
In entertainment-obsessed L.A. medical marijuana patients can visit Buds & Roses in Studio City for their latest strains Mr. Tusk and White Walrus. The strain names are entirely promotional — legit strains temporarily renamed for a short time period — but it’s a smart tie-in for the weed-friendly Smith whose latest film, “Tusk,” is a horror movie starring Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Parks and Genesis Rodriguez.
According to the film’s promotional materials: “Tusk follows a brash American podcaster as he braves the Canadian wilds to interview an old man with an incredible past—only to discover the man’s dark secret involves a walrus.”
The trailer definitely takes you to Creepsville:
Both fictional strains, White Walrus is a sativa and Mr. Tusk is an indica; They were grown by Kushman Veganics and will be available at Buds & Roses until Sept. 26. The shop is also giving away free grinders and weed canisters (both wrapped with the film’s logo and graphics) to early customers.
“Tusk” opens in theaters Sept. 19.
