DENVER—A Colombian man arrested after raids on medical marijuana operations in Colorado could be released as federal prosecutors pursue a weapons charge against him.
A judge indicated Wednesday that he would consider releasing 49-year-old Hector Diaz on bond if he stays in the United States and complies with other conditions. Diaz appeared in court dressed in a brown jail jumpsuit and listened to the judge through an interpreter.
He faces a charge of possessing a firearm while being in the U.S. on a work and tourist visa.
Prosecutors didn’t mention any potential connection between Diaz and the marijuana investigation and declined to comment afterward. Defense attorney Abraham Hutt said he is unaware of any investigation of Diaz in connection with the marijuana raids or any other matter.
Both sides acknowledge he has no criminal history.
