Denver undercover investigation leads to arrest, seizure of 70 lbs. of pot

Denver police say one man was arrested and more than 70 pounds of marijuana and 20 firearms were recovered following an undercover operation on Thursday and Friday.

According to officials, the investigation led to the arrest of John Pettit, 59, on suspicion of felony distribution of marijuana. Police said Pettit was in possession of 24 pounds of pot.

On Friday, DPD said, more details emerged in the case, leading to a private residence on the 13600 block of Foxton Road in Jefferson County.

There, operating with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, officers found an illegal grow facility, a hash oil extraction lab, approximately 500 marijuana plants, about 50 pounds of packaged marijuana and the weapons.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, with findings presented to the Denver District Attorney’s office for formal charges.
