The Canary’s Song in Nederland finally ready for recreational sales

A month after The Canary’s Song appeared on track to be the first recreational marijuana shop in Boulder County, the Nederland dispensary announced Thursday on Facebook that it finally will open for recreational marijuana sales on Saturday.

The Canary’s Song was the first dispensary in the county to obtain all the required licenses to open for recreational marijuana sales, and the shop closed Jan. 26 to prepare.

But after planning to reopen in the first week of February, the dispensary at 1 W. First St. remains closed.

Managers with the dispensary said a series of issues — including a shortage of product tags from the state — led to the delayed opening.

Karing Kind north of Boulder became the first to sell recreational marijuana in the county on Feb. 1, followed later that day by Terrapin Care Station in Boulder at Folsom Street and Canyon Boulevard.
