Vape and Play opens as Denver’s second marijuana-use business

After years of planning and debate, tourists and Denverites have a new place to use marijuana in Denver. Vape and Play opened this month as the city’s second “social consumption” spot, and its owners hope to establish a national model.

“Once they walk in, it’s a vibe very similar to a hotel lobby,” said Megan Lumpkins, who co-founded the business with her son. “We’ve got really nice furniture, very cool artwork, funky television feeds, coloring books, games.”

The idea is that Vape and Play will offer comfortable and safe space to use the drug, complete with hardwoods and exposed filament bulbs. Despite Colorado’s reputation as a mecca for marijuana, it’s generally illegal to use the drug outside of residences and other private spaces.
