Most arrested in Colorado-Florida federal pot bust released on bonds

All but one of the 20 Cubans indicted last week on suspicion of trafficking marijuana out of Colorado have been released on bonds from federal custody.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Nina Wang decided to keep Yosandris Rogue de Escobar in custody, citing his “significant ties to Cuba” and him being a possible flight risk. The others charged in the case are heading to Florida, and some are returning to their homes in the southern Colorado towns where authorities conducted the drug raids.

Authorities seized 1,000 marijuana plants, 50 pounds of dried marijuana and 28 firearms from eight different sites in Cotopaxi and Westcliffe. The defendants are accused of illegally shipping marijuana to Florida.

Federal, state and local agencies participated in the drug raids.
