Deadheads rejoice: Now you can wear dancing bears on your feet with Chaco’s limited-edition Grateful Dead Collection, released today to coincide with the jam band’s 50th anniversary. The two familiar patterns, Steal Your Face and Dancing Bears, are woven into the signature Chaco webbing — a match made in hippie heaven. (The sandals retail for $125-$130, with wrist wraps starting at $15.)
Officially released this morning at 9 a.m. EST, the sandals are available online “while supplies last.” As with the“Fare Thee Well” ticket fiasco, most of the styles sold out within hours. But the website reads: “Whoa! We’ve temporarily sold out on many styles — but we’re making more! Sign up to be notified above.”
The summer sandal staple for outdoor enthusiasts will add a custom option through MyChacos later this month, where customers can choose their own style, webbing pattern, sole, buckle and stitching.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to customize the Chaco experience for Grateful Dead fans everywhere, and we look forward to being a part of this historic anniversary,” Chip Coe, Chaco general manager, said in a release. “With customization available down to the buckle color, our limited-edition sandals can be as unique as every member of the Dead Head community.”
Those heading to Chicago for the Dead’s reunion shows can stop into Chaco’s pop-up shop at Timbuk2’s Bucktown location, open from June 22 through July 6.
