Arrest warrant issued for Erie illegal pot grow discovered after fire

An arrest warrant has been issued for an Erie man after an illegal marijuana grow was discovered by officials after a February fire at his home.

Shane Derek Chilli, 44, was renting the home, in the 3900 block of Beasley Drive, when the fire broke out on Feb. 13. According to officials, a passerby called in the fire at about 2:50 a.m. The cause of the fire has been determined as electrical. Mountain View Fire Rescue investigators said they believe the fire started in a wall adjacent to the front entrance and quickly spread upstairs into a bathroom and bedroom.

No one living in the residence was injured. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and released.

The warrant for Chilli is for unlawful marijuana cultivation, which is a class 3 felony.
