Firefighters respond to house fire, find $350K marijuana grow operation

READING, Pa. — Police say an eastern Pennsylvania house fire led them to discover $350,000 worth of marijuana growing inside.

WFMZ-TV reports that Reading police seized the marijuana Jan. 5.

Firefighters responded to an electrical fire at the house, then called police when they discovered more than 120 adult plants, each about 6 feet tall, growing in the home.

Police are continuing to investigate and haven’t charged anyone with growing or possessing the drugs, which weigh about 150 pounds.

Police say whoever was growing the pot used sophisticated electric and watering equipment. If sold on the street, the drugs would be worth $350,000.
