A different kind of fire: Englewood inspectors discover illegal pot grow

Authorities announced Monday that they have seized more than 40 pounds of illegally grown marijuana in Englewood and have condemned the building where the grow occurred as unsafe.

Englewood fire inspectors discovered the grow in a building in the 1900 block of West Iliff Avenue during a routine fire inspection last Wednesday. The inspectors determined the grow to be unlicensed.

The city’s police impact team worked with the Arapahoe County impact drug task force team to obtain the search warrants necessary to investigate the property further.

An investigation by the Arapahoe County impact team is ongoing.
