Commerce City issues first pot biz license; Starbuds shop in pipeline

Commerce City issued its first marijuana license earlier this week.

After completing a seven-step licensing process, Lifestyle Foods Inc. received a retail marijuana products manufacturer’s license

The business will produce marijuana products, specifically marijuana-infused tea, said Commerce City spokeswoman Michelle Halstead.

The seven-step process includes submitting a letter of intent, attending pre-application meetings, applying for the license, submitting to a background check, establishing neighborhood boundaries and holding a public hearing.

Commerce City also gave conditional approval to Starbuds, which will receive its license once the business has an inspection and receives its certificate of occupancy. Starbuds has six other stores in Colorado.
