Robbers hit Denver marijuana shop, fire shots and flee

Armed robbers barged into a Denver medical marijuana shop Sunday afternoon and, after stealing undisclosed items, fired two shots.

Denver police say they’ve launched a wide search.

The robbers fled in a silver Mercedes and a beat-up Volkswagen van, said police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

One of the suspects was wearing a purple or pink button-down shirt, and another wore a Pittsburgh Steelers cap, Jackson said.

Police announced they’re seeking four suspects involved in the robbery, which happened at the RiNo Supply Company, 3100 Blake St., about 1:45 p.m.

“We believe four played a role. We’re still looking into what happened. We do know they did take some items. But exactly what they are, we’re not going to disclose that at this time,” Jackson said. “We’ve got a pretty wide net going now. … They did fire the weapons, which concerns us.”

No one was hurt.

The robbers ran west from the marijuana shop through an alley across from the shop. One man fell.

A witness who was outside the building saw him fall and told investigators it appeared the man had been shot, Jackson said.

It was unclear what role a fourth suspect played in the robbery and getaway and whether three or four entered the shop. Police were reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses.

Ezra Martinez, a clerk at Mega Fauna in the area, said he heard “two gunshots.”
