In Tacoma, Wash., some fast food employees are trading burgers for dabs.
In an ultra-modern tale that represents America’s conflicting attitudes on weed, a marijuana activist going by the name Jonah Tacoma ordered burgers for his friends at the Frugals drive-thru and asked if he could pay for the food with dabs (a.k.a. potent hits of concentrated cannabis oil). They said sure, so when the activist pulled up to collect his food at the window, he also dabbed out two Frugals employees while videoing the entire post-modern scene.

Of course cannabis is recreationally legal in Washington state, but businesses can also enforce drug policies of their choosing — and it’s safe to say that most companies don’t want their employees ingesting recreational drugs of any kind while on the clock. So when the video hit the Web and went viral and was found by a local and brought to the attention of Frugals management, the two employees who leaned out the drive-thru window to hit the dab rig were fired.
“Frugals has a zero tolerance drug policy in the workplace, and we in no way condone the type of conduct captured,” Laurie Macarty, financial manager for Frugals, told TV station KOMO.
Does activist Tacoma feel bad for his role in the workers’ firing?
“I don’t think we put them in jeopardy,” Jonah Tacoma told KOMO. “I think they chose to participate. The reality is we are making a statement.”
