"Super Troopers" (Broken Lizard)

Update: Meet the ‘Super Troopers’ and Cheech & Chong at the Cannabis Cup

It’s been more than 13 years since comedy team Broken Lizard gave the world “Super Troopers,” the outrageous stoner comedy about five Vermont state troopers out to solve a big crime.

And visitors to Denver’s Cannabis Cup this weekend will have the opportunity to party with Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Farva (Kevin Heffernan) and Mac (Steve Lemme) from Broken Lizard.

The three troopers will host the Cannabis Cup awards ceremony on Sunday, and on Monday — a.k.a. 4/20 — they’ll screen “Super Troopers” at 4:20 p.m. with a live Q&A afterward and host what they’re calling Potfest 2015, a “very special party afterward where you can come in and have some fun,” they say in this promotional video.

Note: The outing costs a pretty penny, and it doesn’t include entry to the Cup. For $200, two people get seats at the film screening, a private meet-and-greet and exclusive swag. For $1,000, two people get seats at the film screening, a private meet-and-greet, exclusive swag and two invites to the private Potfest party afterward. Tickets can be purchased here.

It looks like some of the money being raised by the troopers’ Colorado appearance will go toward the comedy team’s fundraising for “Super Troopers 2.”

UPDATE: But wait, there’s more. Last night the Broken Lizard guys tweeted me some more news to share:

So according to Broken Lizard, Cheech & Chong will be joining them at the Potfest afterparty — and everything they raise from Potfest will go toward their “Super Troopers” sequel. That’s what we call sweetening the pot.
