Sketch comedy troupe Women's "Coma" short (IFC)

New, funny IFC video: After five-year ‘Coma,’ man discovers weed is legal

The premise of “Coma,” IFC’s latest comedy short from sketch troupe Women, is pretty dang funny: A man wakes up from a five-year coma in a hospital bed surrounded by his doctor and his wife. As he deals with the blight of his new reality, including the surprise of an amputated leg and five years of his life down the tube, his doctor offers to write him a prescription for Vicodin, morphine or … marijuana.

The man in the hospital bed looks at the doctor incredulously when he says, “Marijuana is legal now.”

“Drugs aren’t bad anymore,” the doctor continues in a smart deadpan. “And I would know, I’m a doctor. I know what’s good and what’s bad.”

The grin on the patient’s face says it all. And his wife only makes things better when she adds: “Do you know what a vape pen is? Oh my god, it’s going to change your life.”
