Mysterious package at hotel brings in Seattle bomb squad; it’s just pot

SEATTLE — What some might consider really good room service drew the Seattle bomb squad when a lumpy plastic-wrapped package was found outside a vacant room at a downtown hotel. Its contents: six pounds of marijuana.

The police bomb squad and Seattle Fire’s hazmat team were called Thursday to the Four Seasons Hotel after staff found the package and grew concerned because the shape was odd and the intended recipient unclear.

A cautionary tale — Don’t leave pot in your hotel room after checkout

Seattle police say the pot was covered by several layers of packaging and petroleum jelly.

Police seized the marijuana for destruction. While personal possession of small quantities of marijuana is now legal in Washington, police note that six pounds is well over the legal limit.

On their website, police noted that they do not believe the package was delivered by hotel room service.
