Commerce City leaders voted unanimously Monday, July 7, to extend the city’s moratorium on recreational marijuana businesses for another year.

The city’s current moratorium, which began in March 2013, is set to expire on Sept. 25. The extension passed Monday by the city council will continue the temporary ban on recreational pot businesses until Sept. 25, 2015.

The council cited a need for more time to study the impacts of the industry on city revenues, job creation or loss, property values, health and safety, and marijuana use among minors.
