4:20 Digest: A quiet Boulder 4/20, death by pot in Europe & more (2-28-14)

It’s 4:20 p.m. on February 28, 2014, and here are a few of the things we’re talking about at Cannabist HQ.

CU-BOULDER WILL CLOSE FOR 4-20. “For the third year in a row, the University of Colorado plans to close its Boulder campus on April 20 to curtail an ‘unwanted 4/20 gathering,’ according to a statement released Friday morning by Chancellor Phil DiStefano. From noon to 6 p.m. on April 20, CU faculty, students and staff are required to show their Buff OneCards, or CU identification cards, to enter the campus.” Read more about the campus’ big shutdown.

MARIJUANA TRIGGERS TWO DEATHS IN GERMANY. Many doctors who know marijuana will tell you that it would be very difficult to lethally overdose on pot. But they’ll also say that the drug could have a negative reaction to other health conditions — and German doctors are saying “cannabis use likely triggered fatal complications that led to the deaths of two men with underlying health conditions.” Read more from their findings.
